More Than 15 DZI Agents of Good Join Recovery Efforts in Strumyani

More than 15 DZI volunteers, known as the company’s Agents of Good, took part in a large-scale volunteer action in support of the residents of Strumyani following the devastating floods that struck the municipality at the end of August. The initiative marked the beginning of “Unexpected Good”, DZI’s nationwide campaign celebrating the insurer’s 80th anniversary through 80 volunteer missions across Bulgaria.
On September 3, DZI volunteers spent the entire day on the ground helping restore one of the town’s largest and most severely damaged playgrounds. The site had been heavily affected by the flooding, buried under mud, sand, debris, and sediment carried by the floodwaters.
Working side by side, the volunteers cleaned and cleared the playground, helping to restore a safe and welcoming space for local children and families. As part of the effort, more than 40 truckloads of mud, sand, and debris were removed from the area, illustrating the scale of the damage caused by the disaster.
"Sometimes the most valuable support is the support that arrives when it is needed most. In Strumyani, we witnessed how much can be achieved when people unite behind a common cause. For us, this is the true meaning of the ‘Unexpected Good’ initiative: being there for people not only as an insurer, but as a partner and an active member of the community during difficult times," DZI commented.
The Strumyani mission is only the first of many volunteer initiatives planned under the “Unexpected Good” campaign. DZI and its employees have already expressed their commitment to continue supporting the local community in the recovery process, including participation in the renovation and repair of damaged homes and public spaces.
Through “Unexpected Good,” DZI aims to mobilize employees, agents, partners, customers, and local communities around causes that create tangible and lasting positive change. The campaign reflects the spirit of the company’s anniversary message, “If You Love It, Insure It,” extending the idea of care beyond insurance and turning it into meaningful action for people and communities across Bulgaria.
Citizens can follow the campaign’s progress, learn about upcoming volunteer missions, and suggest new causes through the initiative’s dedicated platform, “Unexpected Good.”
